Psychotherapy
(Specialism)

Psychotherapy counselling endeavours to provide guidance on issues related to mental health and well-being.

There are many reasons for choosing therapy as a method for self-understanding and change. These may be the result of everyday stresses, or of specific events from your past or present.

My experience of working with clients includes a wide range of issues. These relate to:

  • Ageing - anxiety, depression, fear, isolation

  • Anxiety - bullying, despondency, fear, guilt, shame, sleeplessness, stress

  • Career - ambition, aspiration, change, conflict

  • Culture - displacement, identity, immigration

  • Depression - direction, hopelessness, lethargy, loneliness, support

  • Diabetes – coping with, and adjusting to living with the condition

  • Emotions - anger, addiction, fear, obsession, rage, sadness

  • Esteem - assertiveness, confidence, image, shame

  • Food management - binge or over eating, obesity, body-image

  • Loss - bereavement, death, grief, job, relationships, status

  • Relationship - abandonment, conflict, engulfment, family, intimate, sexual

  • Sexuality - behaviour, compulsion, fears, intimacy

  • Trauma - past or present, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

During psychotherapy, you will learn about your condition and your moods, feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. Psychotherapy helps you learn how to take control of your life and respond to challenging situations with healthy coping skills. There are many types of psychotherapy, each with its own approach. The type of psychotherapy that's right for you depends on your individual situation.
